Emergent GIVES Shares Progress and Announces Approximately $225,000 in Charitable Donations

Emergent recognizes the importance of supporting charitable organizations and activities that align with our corporate vision and mission.

Important Information:

  • Requesting organizations must be a Canadian registered charity.
  • Generally, organizations may only submit one request per calendar year.
    • If approved, donation amounts are based on the size of the population served by the organization.

Corporate Giving describes the overall process where Emergent seeks to fund endeavors that focus on the prevention of and/or community preparedness for public health threats.

  • Corporate Focus Area:
    • Engaging global communities for outbreak preparedness: We seek to lower the likelihood of epidemics and pandemics in communities across the globe.
    • Examples:
      • Enhancing the understanding of relevant community outbreak preparedness by implementing disease surveillance initiatives that aim to strengthen early diagnosis and containment.
      • Supporting community outbreak preparedness by building capacity for healthcare efforts that prevent disease and/or disease spread.

Community Giving describes the activities related to Emergent’s charitable donations and employee volunteerism that help foster thriving communities where we operate.

  • Geographic Requirements: Your organization must specifically serve Winnipeg, Manitoba.
  • Community Focus Areas:
    • Advance Public Health: We strive to improve the health and well-being of communities through areas that align with our industry and operational expertise.
    • Educate Tomorrow’s Scientific Leaders: We support STEM programs that cultivate young scientists and broaden participation of underrepresented groups to advance STEM literacy and inspire tomorrow’s workforce.
    • Protect Those Who Protect Us: We partner with organizations committed to assisting military veterans and their families, as well as healthcare workers and first responders, to ensure they are well-supported professionally, medically, and emotionally.

Important Giving Information

Charitable donation decisions made by Emergent are at its sole discretion. They are final and not subject to appeal.

Charitable donations must adhere to our internal policy requirement and undergo a review and approval process to ensure the donation is not being given to induce or reward individuals or organizations for past, present or future purchase, prescription or recommendation of any Emergent product. Donation decisions are made independent from our product sales and marketing activities.

It is also important to understand that our corporate social responsibility program does not process grant requests for independent scientific research, grant requests for independent medical education, or commercial sponsorships which are governed under separate procedures.

We will not consider requests for, among other things:

  • An individual person or family or for the personal benefit of a customer, supplier or employee
  • Association memberships or dues
  • Political campaigns, causes or events
  • Alumni fundraising drives
  • Continuing medical education, investigator-initiated research studies or collaborative research studies (direct these requests to Medical Affairs)
  • Non-academic extracurricular school activities or clubs (such as a sports team)
  • Infrastructural projects (such as facility expansion or repair)
  • Memorial funds or crowdsourcing campaigns (such as GoFundMe)
  • Professional or amateur sports events, teams or athletes
  • Religious organizations (except for programs that are broadly promoted, available to anyone and free from religious orientation)
  • Fraternal or labor organizations
  • Special occasion goodwill advertising, including ad books, programs and yearbooks
  • Travels, tours or recreational activities
  • Payment of staff salaries not aligned with a specific project or program
  • Donations made directly to an individual (e.g. HCPs or patients/consumers) in a position to prescribe or influence prescription, purchase or dispensing an Emergent
  • Product or to an organizations or institutions (e.g. physician’s practices) on behalf of, or in the name of, a specific individual in a position to prescribe or influence
  • Purchase, prescription or dispensing an Emergent product
